Limbo is the first release in Xbox Live's "Summer of Arcade 2010" promotion. It's a side scrolling game rendered in black and white, much as you would expect for being in Limbo. The story is about a boy who is concerned about his sister, so he travels into Limbo to find her.
The graphic style makes for a very interesting play experience; you start in a forest and move on through some other areas blended in for smooth transitions. You can move left, right, jump, and grab some objects. It is a puzzle-solving game, with fatal consequences for failure. The game warns you of the imagery in the game as being disturbing, and has an option to disable the more... disturbing deaths (it's rated T for a reason!). From a giant spider who impales you with its leg, to spike traps, to buzzsaws... there are many ways to perish in Limbo.
The ending is well, odd and left up to much interpretation as is the entire game for that matter. There is no speech or reading in the game whatsoever, and this proves true in the ending as well. For 1200 MS Points, it's a fun game once (twice if you go for the "No Sense in Dying" achievement, in which you have to play it from start to finish in one sitting while dying 5 or less times), but there is really no replay value outside of achievement-whoring. If I had the choice to make again, knowing what I know now, I would have waited til this one is on sale.

That makes me sad to hear that because just checking out the reviews, this seems like it'd be an awesome game! I'll probably take your advice and wait until it's on sale...or see if there is any chance of it coming to ps3 in the future!

Don't get me wrong, it was a neat style of game, which is why it's getting such rave reviews. That said, 2-3 hours of play at the most, with no replay value.

Oh well. I still have 50 other games to finish right now so it's not a huge loss for me. Maybe I should stop buying games until I finish some of these....
